If you want to get to know your love interest and show them who you are as well, it's important that you to an extent – embrace your disability.

Disabled dating services make it easy to confront your physical impairments, instead of hiding or ignoring them. But in addition to being honest about your limitations in personals, it's important that you are comfortable with all the aspects of your disability and how they will affect a significant other.

Perhaps you are disabled and dating or you are dating a disabled person or perhaps you are all of the above! Whatever the case, its important that you clearly communicate what your limitations are and what they mean and/or learn about your partner's disability. This is the best way the two of you can prepare for a long-term relationship. Dating sites won't remove all the mystery of your potential mates and that is part of the excitement of love and romance – in fact, even in a committed marriage, you will be often be surprised by your significant other.

However, there are some surprises you want to avoid. If someone is interested in you, let them know about what kind of care you need, whether it's a lot or a little. If he or she is not ready or capable of giving you a helping hand, and that's what you're looking for in a companion, then they are simply wrong for you. Don't waste your time, don't waste yours. Also, don't fret – you just prevented a broken heart by cutting them out of the picture right away!

On a similar note, if you are dating a disabled person, you owe it to them and yourself to research the handicap. With the Internet, this is very easy to do!  The benefits to this is, primarily, it will make you feel comfortable to talk about the disability openly and you won't find yourself nervous and awkward about how to deal with it. Secondly, it will make your partner feel relieved, inspiring them to become closer to you.

A great place to have unhindered discussions about your physical problems are disabled chat rooms, which can be found of course on most disabled dating websites. Here, you can practice confronting your handicap and talking about it with ease! You might even start chatting with a future spouse.

Once you feel like you can be yourself, disability and all, single dating won't be a burden or a terrifying chore anymore. It will be a world you feel confident and excited about. Don't let the love of your life pass you by because you are too afraid to show them who you are as a person, including your physical restrictions, whatever they may be.
