Recent evidence suggests that many of our health problems are directly caused by a lack of calcium. This is because calcium creates a buffer that controls the alkaline level of your blood - if your blood becomes even a little acidic, you die immediately. If you do not get enough calcium from your diet, your body will steal it from your tissues, bones and teeth.
Maintaining proper pH balance. Imagine that you are on vacation for two weeks; and on the day you leave, a storm knocks out power to your house until you return home. When you open the refrigerator, you discover a variety of mold, fungus and bacteria growing everywhere, but you swear that they weren't there when you left. Yes, they were! What changed was that the environment became more favorable for their growth. The same thing happens in your body when you change the pH balance. PH is an acronym for "potential hydrogen". It describes the concentration of hydrogen ions in a substance on a scale of 0 to 14 with a higher number indicating it is more alkaline. Lower numbers mean more acid which indicates less of a possibility for the substance to absorb hydrogen ions. The body's pH is very important since it determines the speed of biochemical reactions by controlling enzyme activity and the speed of electricity in our bodies. As you have read in previous articles, we are under constant attack by molds, fungus, bacteria, yeast and virus which are getting more deadly as they mutate over time. The imbalance in alkalinity creates favorable conditions for the growth of those "bad guys". All of our cells are slightly alkaline but their activities create acid in the form metabolic waste. You should realize also by now that the other bodily systems that are responsible for removing this waste must be functioning efficiently. If they are not, you have two problems and maybe more on the way. First, there is waste that is building up at a cellular level that will begin to interfere with vital cell activity. Secondly, the systems that are supposed to clean up this mess are not functioning properly. And, as you might have guessed already, there is a potential for a third or fourth system to be impacted - all because your acid/alkaline balance is out of whack. The term we need to introduce at this point is 'acidosis'. It is most likely the root cause of many bodily disorders. Acidosis is the lack of oxygen and calcium that are vital in maintaining your body's alkaline level. Calcium is literally holding you together. It attaches itself to at least seven other molecules and moves in and out of cells supplying them with nutrients. This will then cause your body to become more acidic which in turn makes it harder for you to absorb oxygen. Without sufficient oxygen, the 'bad guys' thrive and disrupt cellular activity which in turn increases the imbalance in your body. When most people hear the word calcium, they immediately think of how calcium depletion causes osteoporosis. They think they can correct this condition simply by drinking milk. Actually, osteoporosis is an acidosis problem brought on when your body steals calcium from your bones and teeth. So, consuming lots of dairy products without addressing the acid/alkaline balance is counterproductive. So how do we bring this situation under control. If you did not guess "changing your diet", go back and read the previous articles again; and... Increase the amount of greens, tomatoes, carrots, blueberries, black beans, walnuts and oats in your diet. Limit your intake of phosphates like those found in carbonated drinks and animal protein. Add a calcium supplement that is fully absorbable. Eliminate overly-processed food and high fructose corn syrup from your diet. Day 17 - Everything is about the same. I have not had any new outbreaks of my psoriasis and there is less itching.
