With a combination of a healthy diet and exercise, losing upper belly fat is simple and easy. By maintaining your workout regime as well as your diet you have the ability to maintain this new slimmer abdomen and even get those 6-pack abs you have always dreamed of.

First, regular crunches are a great way to start. Although not many people enjoy doing crunches this is the way to losing upper belly fat successfully.

Laying flat on your back on the floor you bend your knees so that your feet are flat on the floor with your hands behind your head for support. From here you lift your shoulder blades up off the floor using the power of your upper abdominal muscles and slowly lower back down. Do not lift much further than your shoulder blades as this can create too much pressure on your back, this is more than enough to burn off that unwanted fat.

By beginning with sets of 10-15 and 2-3 sets per workout you will be well on your way to a slimmer you.

The clam shell is another option which is quite similar to the regular crunch, with one added extra element. When you lift your shoulder blades off the floor you also bring your knees in towards your chest to squeeze your upper belly fat from two opposing forces for optimal results. Start off with the same number of sets and repetitions as the regular crunches and escalate as you can, this can be one of the tougher abdominal exercises.

If you are looking for a more long term form of fitness Pilates is a great way to burn off that upper belly fat and almost every gym in the country offers a different form of Pilates classes to help you get toned and firm abdominal muscles.

Combine each of these techniques with a healthy diet, full of water throughout the day and you are on your way to seeing results.
