Cheap Apple Laptop Computers

Rumour online suggests that Apple will introduce a Macintosh laptop computer model priced as low as $800 (£475), which would be great news to those on low incomes wanting to obtain a quality Apple laptop notebook.

Apple today is expected to unveil their new range of notebook computers, perhaps even one priced for those with tight budgets, at a gathering at its northern California headquarters in the city of Cupertino on Tuesday.

Rumour online suggests that Apple will introduce a Macintosh laptop computer model priced as low as $800 (£475), which would be great news to those on low incomes wanting to obtain a quality Apple laptop notebook.

In the past Apple has never sold a Macintosh laptop for less than $1,000. Apple's current cheapest laptop in its existing MacBook range is £650.

The Asus Eee PC, which is available for £200, sold out almost everywhere it went on sale. However, there are a few people in the know that are sceptical of the $799 to 999 dollar price range for Apple laptops and also doubt that a touchscreen laptop will be unveiled at the press conference, it is widely believed that the announcement of a stripped-down "netbook" is more likely.

Speculation also has it that Apple may improve computer processor speeds and hard disk storage space in all its new MacBook machines. Pictures believed to be an updated version of the high-end Macbook Pro model have been posted on several websites

It is also rumoured that the new line of Macintosh laptop or notebook computers is most likely to feature technical upgrades made possible by powerful NVidia or Intel processors, and feature stylish and eco-friendly aluminum casings (codenamed "Brick"), instead of a plastic case.

Update - What Happened at Apple's Announcement

Apple today announced a redesigned MacBook and introduced a new thinner MacBook Pro. It has a black bezel and an LED display. It is thin, with a rounded lid and all connectors on one side, as well as black keys.

The new generation MacBook has an all new design, with the black-bezel glass display like the MacBook Pro and Cinema Display. The GeForce 9400M* will be used in the new MacBook Pro. It also has a multitouch glass trackpad and Mini DisplayPort. The MacBook features a five-hour battery life. The new model prices range from $1,299 for a 13 inch with a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB of DDR3 memory, 9400M graphics, and a 160GB hard drive to $1,599 for the 13 inch model with a 320GB hard drive. The new MacBook's weigh 4.5 pounds instead of 5 pounds.

The Mini DisplayPort is the new industry standard, Jobs says. A solid-state drive is now available in the MacBook Pro. You can take the battery out and the hard drive out, and put in a solid-state drive, making it totally accessible.

A new multitouch glass trackpad provides 39 percent larger tracking area. The entire trackpad is the button. You can add multiple buttons in the preferences section.

There is also a new MacBook Air with a GeForce 9400M, four times faster than the current processor. It has a 120GB hard drive and a 128GB solid-state drive as an option. It also will have a Mini DisplayPort. The standard model is $1,799, and $2,499 for the 1.86GHz processor and a bigger SSD.

Apple is sticking with glass screens for a while. No matte screens, Jobs says. Glass provides crisper images and brighter colors.

* Nvidia combines chipset and graphics processors all in one part that were originally designed for the desktop. The resulting chip is called the GeForce 9400M. There are 16 parallel graphic cores, and it delivers 54 gigaflops of graphics performance providing five times faster graphics and 55 percent better in 3D graphics performance than the integrated graphics chips Apple has been using.
