What does Sudoku mean?
The word Sudoku translates to something like "numbers singly" from Japanese.
Solving a sudoku puzzle can be tricky, but the rules of the game are quite simple. The objective of the game of Sudoku is to fill a 9×9 grid so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3 by 3 boxes contains the digits from 1 to 9, only once.
The difficulty of a Sudoku puzzle is based on the relevance and the positioning of the given numbers rather than their quantity.
The modern Sudoku was most likely designed by Howard Garns, a 74-year-old retired architect and freelance puzzle constructor from Indiana.
Sudoku software is now very popular on PCs, websites, and mobile phones. It has also been released on portable video game handhelds such as the Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, the Game Boy Advance, and even on several iPod models.
The game of Sudoku can be highly addictive, enjoy! (Firefox users may currently have trouble loading the game)
