There are proven techniques that can enable us to learn how cope with stress successfully without having to resort to medical practitioner prescribed medications and alcohol, which decrease our minds as well as our efficiency.

Many of these ways to relieve stress are simple. So simple in fact, that they are often overlooked or even dismissed as unimportant and irrelevant.  Check out the following list of ways to relieve stress. They are suggestions that are basic in nature, but they are easy to do:

1.  If you try to be the “21st century independant women” or the “ultra cool, man about town,”, you will only create stress because you are role playing. So just be yourself!

2.  Find and network with people who are pleasant when selecting your friends.  You will need to avoid contact with people who criticize you or like to constantly talk about the negative situations around them.

3.  Be confident enough to admit your fears.  Find out what scares you and try to find out why.   Discuss these issues with a trusted friend or even a family member if you feel you need to.

4.  Try and develop a confident, yet realistic, self-image.  Recognize that you have both strong and weak points.  Build on your positive nature and excel in these areas.  Develop your the weak areas, but realize that you can't do everything well.

5.  Try to meet the middle ground with other people, as well as with yourself.  This is a sign of strength, not a weakness.  You will create tesnsion and stress if you refuse to give in, or you insist on having the last word.

6.  Make time for a break, even if it's only a short.  A few minutes by yourself each day, can help you relax and meditate.  Try and find ways to do this even if it means waking early or by going for a short walk.

7.  Do not let worrisome situations get out of hand.  If there is unhappiness or concern in your life, try to do something about the problems.  Procrastination and indecision will only increase your stress levels and the problems tend to worsen over time.

8.  Always choose to do what is honest and right. Cheating, deception, and unethical behavior will always produce guilt feelings which ultimately lead to stress.

9.  Slow down - literally. Lower your speech levels when you talk and your pace when you walk.  Chew your food with slower jaw movements, and put your fork down inbetween bites.  You'll find that when you move slower you will feel less pressured.

10.  Avoid excuses.  Blaming other people or circumstances does not help much.  Take responsibility for yourself and your own actions.

Our stress management course (link below), will help you use and develop several strategies to start to implement even more ways to relieve stress. Your life really will be much more manageable, bearable, and more importantly, enjoyable when you learn how to cope with stress.
