The Paralysis Community Map shows the world the faces of the paralysis community and raises awareness to help find a cure. 5,596,000 Americans are currently living with paralysis. This is the extraordinary finding of One Degree of Separation: Paralysis and Spinal Cord Injury in the United States, a national paralysis population survey, released today by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. No one had any idea that the paralysis community is this large. This means nearly 1 in 50 of all Americans are living with paralysis, 33% more than previous estimates. These include: * People living with paralysis * Friends and family members * Professional caregivers * Physicians and scientists * Military vets You can add yourself to the Paralysis Community Map (www.campaigntocureparalysis.org) to show the world who is living with paralysis. The goal is to have one million people who are part of the paralysis community on the map.
