Below you can find a list of some of the available scholarships for deaf and hearing impaired school and college students in the U.S. U.S. Scholarships for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired NOTE: Students should read scholarship requirements carefully in regards to their definition of deafness or hearing loss. National Association of the Deaf William C. Stokoe Scholarship The scholarship is limited to deaf students who have graduated from a four-year college program and are pursuing part- or full-time graduate studies in a field related to sign language or the deaf community or who are developing a special project on one of these topics. AG Bell College Scholarship Awards Program In order to be eligible for the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf Scholarship Awards, applicants must meet the following criteria: Hearing loss must have been diagnosed prior to age seven (during the language-learning years). Hearing loss must be bilateral and in the moderate to profound range. Applicants must have an unaided Pure-Tone Average (PTA) of 60dB or greater in the better hearing ear in the speech frequencies of 500, 1000 and 2000 Hz. Applicants with cochlear implants meet this eligibility requirement. Sertoma Scholarships for Hearing Impaired Students The Sertoma Scholarships for Hearing Impaired Students offers twenty $1000 scholarships to cover tuition, books and supplies for students who have a clinically significant bilateral hearing loss . The funds may be used for any term, including the summer term, during the awarded academic school year. This scholarship is made possible by the generous support from the members of Sertoma and Oticon, Inc. Qualifications Student must have a minimum 40dB bilateral hearing loss as evidenced on audiogram by an SRT of 40dB or greater in both ears. Graeme Clark Cochlear Implant Scholarship The Graeme Clark Scholarship is a unique award open to Nucleus® cochlear implant recipients around the world. Awarded by Cochlear, this Scholarship has been set up to help individuals further themselves by undertaking university studies. The Scholarship consists of financial assistance toward a minimum three-year undergraduate degree at an accredited university and is paid in annual installments on the completion of each year of study. Scholarship Trust for the Hearing Impaired Each year, the Travelers Protection Agency (TPA) provides students who are deaf or near deaf with scholarship awards. The number of recipients and award sizes may vary based on Trust Executive Committee recommendations. Applications are due by March 1st annually.
