Further Information Regarding Political EditorialsSpending More for Less Freedom - Uncommon Government Ineptitude Los Angeles County has announced that they will cut nearly forty-thousand People with Disabilities and Seniors from Home Care Service hours because of the state’s budget, something that has the potential to affect not only the people involved themselves, but thirty-thousand care providers as well. Mr. Obama's Speech on Health Care Reform and People with Disabilities Wednesday evening, Mr. Obama made some highly-relevant points that deserve some credit. He stated some things that I agree with whole-heartedly; they are very relevant where People with Disabilities are concerned. Mr. Obama suggested that controlling the Health Insurance Industry would be a wise move to make... People with Disabilities, Seniors, and Health Care Reform Health care is an absolute necessity for people with disabilities and seniors in America; we just cannot do without it. Many of us have health conditions that require regular medical attention; some of us have chronic health conditions. We have prescriptions, many of us, that have to be filled each month. Some of the medications we take require lab work and a health care professional to monitor. People with disabilities use medical and assistive living products; we need health care coverage. Government Roles and Disability - Opinions and Information The United States Government has some specific roles it plays in the
lives of persons with disabilities; many of them involve financial
matters, employment and health care. There are government organizations
in place to work with people with disabilities such as the Social
Security Administration, USA Jobs, the Medicare program, and more. Reasons Why America Should Not Pursue the Health Care Reform Bill The Health Care Reform Bill being presented to America by the Democrat
Party and President Obama, on a nearly daily basis, has been shown to
Americans as something that is needed in order to protect the economy -
much as the stimulus package has been. Unlike the stimulus package,
health care reform has a far greater and longer effect on this nation;
it is a permanent change to the entire health care system. The Convention on the Right of People with Disabilities - Commentary President Barrack Hussein Obama is set to sign the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities on July 24th, 2009. There are many greatly important ramifications contained in this convention; I have only begun to understand them. When I first began to read this lengthy document, the first thought that crossed my mind was, "Finally! We will finally gain the recognition and rights that we deserve in America!" Advocate Speaks About Hate Crimes Expansion The United States Senate has approved an expansion of the federal hate crime law to cover not only gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity - but disability as well. The legislation is the largest expansion of federal hate crime protections since the original law was enacted after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior. People with Disabilities and Homelessness According to the Disability Scoop greater than forty-percent of the population of people who are homeless in America are persons with disabilities. The one-hundred and fifty page 2008, "Annual Homeless Assessment Report," issued by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, did not provide encouraging news. Freedom, Access, Equal Rights, and People with Disabilities in America - A Request to the President Do you remember the protest by ADAPT in April concerning the Community Choice Act? ABC News reported the event; below is the article concerning the protest, and the subsequent arrest of ADAPT protestors. I personally do not view President Obama's position as an easy one, he has a great deal left on his plate to manage. The White House reaction to the ADAPT protestors was poor, in my opinion. Christchurch Mayor Launches Accessibility Map The Mayor of the city of Christchurch has come up with one dilly of an idea; one that every single city in the world should think about doing. Mayor Bob Parker has launched an easy-to-use, comprehensive accessibility map of the city for people with disabilities. Quite the community-minded guy, Mr. Parker. Obama Continues to Push Healthcare Reform The President, in a, "Town Hall," style format on Facebook, continued to promote his administration's plan for healthcare in America Wednesday afternoon. As Virginia Governor Tim Kaine began to speak things on Facebook began to cut in and out, presenting what was happening too fast for viewers of the presentation. Tim Kaine's remarks sounded as if they were being presented at twice the speed they should have been.
