A list of accessible fishing locations in the Swan River and Perth area of Western Australia that provide universal access for people with disabilities.
Any time is good for fishing in WA but the warmer months, from November to March, are particularly rewarding. Not only is the weather ideal for early morning and twilight expeditions, but the Swan River becomes estuarine and many of the local marine species move into its waters to feed. River species you are likely to catch include Bream, Flounder, Herring, Skipjack, Cobbler, Flathead, and Tailor. Crabs and prawns...for which you don¹t need a licence...are also abundant in summer months.

Palm Beach Jetty at The Esplanade, opposite the intersection with Fisher Street has easy access (good parking), but the right-hand extension is not accessible due to the steps leading down. One of the top fishing jetties in the area for herring, whiting, gardies, tailor, mulloway, pink snapper (especially after a big blow), yellow-eyed mullet, squid, crab and bonito (in season).
Hillarys Boat Harbour is a man-made marina about 20 minutes north of Perth
Hillarys Boat Harbour is a beachside focal point for locals and visitors alike. Hillarys is the departure point for whale watching (in season) and trips to Rottnest Island. It is also a safe swimming beach, home to the Aquarium of Western Australia and includes Sorrento Quay Boardwalk shopping precinct. Dedicated accessible parking is available close to the shopping precinct and the complex is easily accessible giving access to retail shops and cafes. The harbour has water access ramps and an accessible fishing platform, cycle and walking paths. The breakwater is a popular spot for recreational fishing.
