The event, which will be held from 5:45 to 9 p.m., will honor Paul G. Hearne Award winners Stephanie Enyart, Victor Santiago Pineda and Maureen McKinnon-Tucker. The three were chosen by a national advisory committee to receive $10,000 each to further their work in the disability community. The Leadership Gala will be emceed by The Honorable Tony Coelho, the former Majority Whip of the U.S. House of Representatives and an author of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and actor and disability rights activist Robert David Hall ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation"). Legendary R&B artist Sam Moore ("Soul Man") will also make a special appearance at the event. The Paul G. Hearne Award carries on the work of one of AAPD's founders, Paul G. Hearne, a renowned leader in the national disability community and realizes his goal of cultivating emerging disability rights leaders. More than 55 corporations, including Wal-Mart, American Airlines, National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA) and SAP, are providing sponsorship for the event, which has been held since 2002.
