Special Olympics Minnesota Athletes Selected to Compete at 2011 World Summer Games

The Minnesotans selected to Team USA include Jake Sawyer, 21, a swimmer from Champlin; fellow swimmer Amy Holty, 30, of Rochester; track & field athlete Kristina Fritz, 32, of Woodbury; bocce player Tyler DeVries, 24, of Underwood; Blaine Cox, 23, a bowler from North Mankato; equestrian athlete Matthew Schoenbauer, 13, of New Prague; and tennis players Richard Martin, 27, of Hibbing and Katie VandenBosch, 20, of Farmington.

Anal Warts - Prevention and Treatment

Anal warts commonly spread from person to person through sexual contact, although they may also spread from inanimate objects such as a shared bath towel. Around two-thirds of people who have sexual contact with a person who has genital warts will develop them, often within three months of the time of contact. Medical science estimates as many as one-million new cases of anal and genital warts are diagnosed each year in the United States alone.

Phantom Limbs More Common than Previously Thought

Damage to the nervous system, such as stroke, may cause similar illusions in weakened limbs, whereby an arm or leg may feel as if it is in a completely different position or may even feel as if it is moving when it is not. Cases of phantom limbs in non-amputees have previously been considered rare events, but a new study published in the October 2010 issue of Elsevier's Cortex (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/cortex) reports that more than half of patients recovering from stroke may in fact experience phantom limb sensations.
