Apples's Newest Product the Apple iPad for Games, News and Email

Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs, finally unveiled the Apple iPad during an event today. The name of the new tablet was revealed only a few days ago. Reaction to Apple's new iPad is mixed, with some technology sites praising it while others are a little more reserved in their enthusiasm. Information to hand states the Apple iPad has a 9.7-inch screen, weighs 1.5 pounds, Wi-Fi with a 3G option, and up to 10 hours of battery life.

Neurological Therapy - Facts and Information

Neurological physical therapy is a form of therapy that is focused on working with people who have a type of neurological disorder or disease. The types of neurological disabilities approached by this form of physical therapy might include ALS, alzheimer's disease, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, or spinal cord injuries. Common types of impairments associated with neurologic conditions can include balance, vision, ambulation, movement, activities of daily living, speech, or loss of functional independence.

Artificial Muscles Save Eyesight by Restoring Ability to Blink

Surgeons from UC Davis Medical Center have demonstrated that artificial muscles can restore the ability of patients with facial paralysis to blink, a development that could benefit the thousands of people each year who no longer are able to close their eyelids due to combat-related injuries, stroke, nerve injury or facial surgery. In addition, the technique, which uses a combination of electrode leads and silicon polymers, could be used to develop synthetic muscles to control other parts of the body.

New Form of Adult Muscular Dystrophy

A study published in today's online edition the American Journal of Human Genetics, allowed the first identification of a new form of adult onset muscular dystrophy. The research team led by Dr. Bernard Brais, neurogeneticist at the Research Centre of the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CRCHUM) and associate professor, Université de Montréal, in collaboration with European collaborators, demonstrated that recessive ANO5 mutations will lead to abnormal membrane repair of muscle fibers.
