Oppositional Defiant Disorder - Child has Aversion to Authority

Oppositional defiant children show a consistent pattern of refusing to follow commands or requests by adults. These children repeatedly lose their temper, argue with adults, and refuse to comply with rules and directions. They are easily annoyed and blame others for their mistakes. Children with ODD can be manipulative and often induce discord in those around them. Commonly they can incite parents and other family members to fight with one and other rather than focus on the child, who is the source of the problem.

Wyoming Passes Fire-safe Cigarette Legislation

Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal recently signed legislation requiring all cigarettes sold in Wyoming to meet a specific fire safety standard as of July, 2011. This marks the 50th state to pass legislation aimed at reducing the number of cigarette fires and fire fatalities. “The Wyoming fire service is pleased with the passage of this bill,” said Marlene Aitchison, fire chief for Laramie County Fire District #2 and chair of the Wyoming Fire Chiefs Association Legislative Committee.

$2.4 Billion for Ageing and Disability Services - NSW Australia

The Keneally Government’s budget for services to people with a disability, their families and their carers and older people will eclipse $2.4 billion, up $206 million from 2009-10. NSW Minister for Ageing and Minister for Disability Services, Peter Primrose, said the massive investment reflected Labor’s spending and policy priorities outlined in Stronger Together, the NSW Government’s 10-year plan to expand services for people with a disability.

Major Redevelopment of Riverside Centre in Orange, NSW

The Riverside Centre at Orange, which provides accommodation for 69 residents with an intellectual disability is to be redeveloped at a cost of $30 million. The Minister for Disability Services, Peter Primrose, said that the redevelopment, which would take three years to complete, would deliver tailored services that best meet the support needs of each resident and provide more choices for appropriate and flexible accommodation.

Canadian Centres Awarded Stroke Distinction
