The Aurora Foundation partners with Rowland’s I Heart My Girlfriends.
The Aurora Foundation is pleased to announce that Kelly Rowland will be the keynote speaker at the 4th annual disABLED Divaz Fashion Show, to take place on Saturday, November 13, at the Marriott University Park in Tucson, Arizona.
The Aurora Foundation has partnered with Rowland’s own non-profit organization, I Heart My Girlfriends, whose mission is to foster the limitless potential of girls and women through education, advocacy and outreach programs. Rowland is serving as an honorary board member to The Aurora Foundation and her organization is assisting with the promotion of the disABLED Divaz Fashion Show.
Tickets are on sale now for The Aurora Foundation’s signature event which will feature dinner, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle and live entertainment by Triple Threat, the all-female trio featuring American Idol finalist Crystal Stark; and, of course, the fabulous Divaz models who live each day with an array of abilities that are too often overlooked and unexamined. The theme of the show, Celebrating Beautiful Lives, is a reflection of the spirits of these women who constantly challenge society to re-think their ideas of “disability.” This year’s event also features a competition in which local designers are paired with the Divaz to create a custom-designed outfit for each model to keep.
“I am very excited to be a part of this event. IHMG is more than an organization, we are a movement. I am thrilled that our movement has lead us to The Aurora Foundation and I can’t wait to see the fashion show,” said Rowland.
“The missions and work of The Aurora Foundation and I Heart My Girlfriends overlap in many ways. We are ecstatic that we have been able to connect with them and collaborate on the disABLED Divaz event,” said Stephanie Parker, President and Founder of The Aurora Foundation. Proceeds from disABLED Divaz: Celebrating Beautiful LivesTM will fund The Aurora Foundation’s advocacy efforts for young women with disabilities.
Tickets are $85 per person or $800 for a table of 10, and are available for purchase through the website at www.disableddivaz.com. For more information about The Aurora Foundation, visit www.planetaurora.org or www.facebook.com/theaurorafoundation.
