War Amps Halifax Seminar for Young Amputees
Information provided by WAR AMPS - Published: 2010-07-18
Young amputees learn to handle teasing and bullying at War Amps Halifax seminar.
Growing up as an amputee has its share of challenges, from dealing with teasing, bullying and staring, to simple frustration at sometimes not being able to take part in an activity or keep up with your peers.
Child amputees from across the Atlantic provinces will have the opportunity to talk about these challenges and get practical solutions from older Champs in an open-forum session today at The War Amps 2010 Atlantic Child Amputee (CHAMP) Seminar.
The session will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the Commonwealth A Room of Halifax's Westin Nova Scotian Hotel, 1181 Hollis Street.
Earlier sessions in the morning include the importance of healthy living for amputees, looking at some of the helpful daily living aids available for amputees and learning how to become a Safety Ambassador with The War Amps PLAYSAFE Program.
This year is a special one for the CHAMP Program, marking its 35th anniversary.
Media are welcome to attend these sessions, or interviews can be arranged at any time. The three-day seminar winds up today at 11:30 a.m.
