From Disabled World Anna Parisi Communications Chief - Canadian Paralympic Committee By Canadian Paralympic Committee
The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) today announced Anna Parisi as its Communications Chief. Based in the Canadian Paralympic Committee offices in Vancouver, Ms. Parisi will oversee all internal and external communications activities and programs, along with branding and strategic planning to help raise the profile of Paralympic athletes, sports and the Paralympic Movement in Canada. Working with her communications team, the immediate priority will be to get the nation excited about the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games to be held in Vancouver and Whistler, BC from March 12 to 21, 2010. "Anna's skills will significantly expand our ability to inform and engage the public, media, the disabled community and other stakeholders across Canada in support of the Paralympic team, as well as the Movement as a whole in the lead up to 2010 and beyond," said Brian MacPherson, CPC Chief Operating Officer. "We want as many Canadians as possible to join us on the road to Vancouver 2010, and to experience the excitement of the Paralympic Games." Ms. Parisi was previously an Account Director at Optimum Public Relations, where she worked on the award-winning CPC campaign, Feel the Rush, to raise awareness and participation in sports by people with a disability. She also managed the CPC's VIP and Sponsorship Hospitality Program at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. With over twelve years experience in branding, marketing communications and media relations, she has implemented effective communications strategies for clients in fields such as high-tech, architecture, professional services, government, not-for-profit, sport, and banking. "It is a very exciting time to join the Canadian Paralympic Committee," said Ms. Parisi. "Canada has a great tradition of winning at Paralympic Games. I am looking forward to letting all Canadians know how competitive Paralympic sports are, and introducing them to Canada's accomplished Paralympians and 2010 hopefuls."
