African Holiday of a Lifetime with Epic Expeditions

Information provided by Epic Expeditions - Published: 2011-02-28

Epic Expeditions is a tour operator offering accessible safaris and tours in South Africa.

Epic Expeditions has been running since 1992 as an overland company. We have seen very few "enabled" travellers enjoying the wide range of pleasures as an "overlander".

Being aware that there are many "enabled" people who are able and wish to experience the same sense of adventure and thrill which "overlanding" has to offer the concept of Epic Enabled was born (2001). In late 2010 we extended our dream and opened our fully accessible Epic Guest House in Cape Town.

Epic Enabled offers exciting overland wheelchair accessible adventure safaris in the Kruger National Park, Garden Route and day tours in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Everybody is welcome; individuals, friends, families & groups - disabled travellers or not

Our travel is done in a specially adapted & equipped Mercedes Benz truck, which has been modified by qualified mechanical engineers for Wheelchair (physically disabled) passengers and is outfitted with a hydraulic passenger lift. This truck is ideal for being able to maximize your viewing pleasure, for e.g. when driving during our Kruger Park tour, the seats are removable, therefore giving space and manoeuvrability in the passenger section.

This means that our travellers can actually move themselves around from the one side of the vehicle to the other side to follow the game! We also have a Mercedes Benz Sprinter Bus, which is used for smaller groups and airport transfers.

We are fortunate to be able to use a wide range of fully equipped accessible accommodation - tented camps, bungalows and cottages. All accommodation has solid off the ground beds and wooden or cemented floors for wheelchair access.

Epic Enabled provides a range of 3 wholesome meals a day (* please refer to our itineraries) while on tour - which include traditional African dishes served in a boma, barbecues, potjie, picnics etc. Vegetarian and those with special dietary requirements will always have different meals to choose from.
