"I was extremely active prior to my injury. I spent much of my time in the out of doors and was a licensed New York State Guide. I have built a website www.handihelp.net which contains simple tools and ideas I've come up with to overcome some of the frustrations faced daily by physically challenged individuals. I am trying to reach as many people as possible and provide them with simple alternatives that are either inexpensive or cost nothing to be made. The information I provide is free including the plans for constructing any of the devices that are shown on the site."
Richard approaches his daily life with Christopher Reeve's philosophy; "I refuse to allow a disability to determine how I will live my life. I don't mean to be reckless, but setting a goal that seems a bit daunting actually is very helpful toward recovery."
Recently, Richard has begun doing motivational speaking in local schools trying to help students realize the personal strength that lies within them.
Hopefully, some of Richard's products and ideas will help physically challenged individuals overcome some of the frustrations they face daily.
