Painful heels are one of the top concerns that bring people into the offices of their family doctors, as well as the main concern bringing people to the offices of podiatric doctors. Heel pain can have a number of causes, although the vast majority is caused by plantar fasciitis. 'Plantar,' means, 'bottom of the foot.' 'Fascia,' is a ligament or bundle of ligaments. The plantar fascia is a thick ligament that helps people to hold up their foot and provide, 'spring,' to their steps.

What is Plantar Fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis (also known as plantar fasciopathy or jogger's heel), is medically defined as a common painful disorder affecting the heel and underside of the foot. It is a disorder of the insertion site of ligament on the bone and is characterized by scarring, inflammation, or structural breakdown of the foot's plantar fascia. It is often caused by overuse injury of the plantar fascia, increases in exercise, weight, or age. The plantar fascia is the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot. It connects the heel bone to the toes and creates the arch of the foot. When this tissue becomes swollen or inflamed, it is called plantar fasciitis.
Plantar fasciitis involves an inflammation of the plantar fascia and causes more than 90% of heel pain among adults in America. The condition might be acute yet is often times chronic, remaining for months or even years. The reason this happens is due to poor foot mechanics. The person's foot sinks down too far to allow the plantar fascia to overstretch with each step the person takes. If the person's plantar fasciitis is acute, it is basically treated as a sprain.
For me, years of working on floors with the goal of assisting people with disabilities as a nursing assistant found me dealing with plantar fasciitis. I am far from alone where plantar fasciitis is concerned. Many people in the following occupations or endeavors also find themselves experiencing plantar fasciitis:

The Physical Therapy Exercises
The laminated cards that come with Dr. Salvino's Plantar Fasciitis Pain Kit include extremely useful images and text describing exercises, ones that have given me a great amount of relief with fairly little effort. The exercises are designed to stretch certain areas of your feet, ones that have taken some level of strain resulting in plantar fasciitis. After performing these exercises for a period of time, my feet are actually feeling far better than they were.
When people first hear the words, 'physical therapy,' they often times assume the exercises are going to be difficult to perform. I am a person who ran around on floors taking care of others for decades; my thought upon hearing the words, 'physical therapy,' were that the exercises would be hard and painful. Nothing could be further from the actuality of the exercises in Dr. Salvino's Kit. Many of the exercises can be performed sitting down. For me, the exercises Dr. Salvino presents through the kit are actually a pleasure.
The Foot Roller
One of the things that comes with Dr. Salvino's kit is a foot roller, a rather high-quality one. Upon opening the kit, the first thing I did was use the foot roller, it helped from the moment I began using it. It is round, black and made of rubber with a solid core. The foot roller also has small, 'nubs,' which help to massage your feet. If you do nothing else for the plantar fasciitis you experience – get Dr. Salvino's roller.
Dr. Salvino, through Everheel, has created a foot roller that is highly worthwhile; one I will keep next to the couch I sit on in the evening. As I sit on the couch, I can use the foot roller to ease the pain and massage my feet. For those who are on their feet all day and experience plantar fasciitis, the foot roller in Dr. Salvino's kit is essential.
The Cooling and Heating Pads
The particular season, whether it be Winter or Summer, makes little difference in the incredible effectiveness of Dr. Salvino's heating and cooling packs. When I opened Dr. Salvino's kit, one of the first things I noticed were these packs. I promptly placed the cooling pad in the freezer and heated up the heating pack for use with my aching feet. There are no words to describe the relief these two packs have provided to me.
The cooling pad is one I use regularly, it helps to ease my painful feet. The foot gel that comes with the kit is also something that provides incredible relief. The stretch band that comes with Dr. Salvino's Plantar Fasciitis Pain Kit is helping me to build strength in areas of my feet and ankles; it can do the same for you.
Dr. Salvino has created the best kit for people with plantar fasciitis. The kit is available through Everheel and is inexpensive at around $30. The kit is delivered right to your front door and Everheel sends the kits out with free shipping.
If you experience plantar fasciitis, this kit is perfect for you. It makes a wonderful gift for the person in your life who has plantar fasciitis. Dr. Salvino's Plantar Fasciitis Pain Kit is something I am pleased to have and I am quite sure many people can find the same relief I am feeling through use of this kit; I highly recommend the kit.
