The second season of the online talk show New Way RA - the first and only talk show created specifically for people living with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) - will premiere May 17 at www.newwayra.com.
Hosted again by award-winning journalist and anchor of Inside Edition, Deborah Norville, New Way RA focuses on practical tips and advice for daily living with RA. The show also aims to continue raising awareness about RA, a chronic, inflammatory and potentially disabling condition that affects more than 1 million Americans, predominantly women. New Way RA is sponsored by Centocor Ortho Biotech Inc.
Deborah Norville is joined this season by two panelists living with the chronic condition: Amye Leong, RA advocate and spokesperson for the United Nations Bone and Joint Decade, and Sara Nash, author of the RA blog, The Single Gal's Guide to Rheumatoid Arthritis. Together, they welcome a variety of guests with a personal connection to RA to explore topics like health, personal style, dating, intimacy and even humor. To watch the premiere episode or to view a preview of the second season, visit New Way RA.
"New Way RA is a unique resource for people living with RA because it can be challenging and, at times, even frustrating to figure out how to maintain your daily routine and continue enjoying life while managing a chronic condition," says Norville, whose mother was diagnosed with RA when Norville was just 10 years old. "Through personal insights and life experiences shared by individuals actually dealing with the condition, New Way RA offers support and tools that can empower viewers to explore new ways to approach living with RA."
The second season of New Way RA features a line-up of expert guests, including:
Clinton Kelly, co-host of the hit TLC show, What Not to Wear, who provides easy-to-implement style suggestions for men and women living with RA. Clinton has a personal connection to RA - his grandmother and close friend both live with the condition.
Gail Saltz, M.D., psychiatrist, columnist, bestselling author and frequent television commentator, who discusses ways to achieve and maintain intimacy in a relationship when living with RA.
Matt Iseman, stand-up comedian and host of the popular programs, Clean House and Sports Soup. Diagnosed with RA eight years ago, Matt shares his personal experience with RA and helps to dispel some common myths about the condition.
Laurie Ferguson, Ph.D., Vice President of Research and Education at the advocacy organization CreakyJoints, who shares tips and advice on how to succeed in the dating world when living with RA.
W. Hayes Wilson, M.D., Chief, Division of Rheumatology at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, who discusses the challenge of securing a proper diagnosis and leading the charge with your healthcare team.
Chantelle Sterling, a former runway model living with RA, who discusses how she came to terms with her diagnosis and manages her RA today.
"Whether you, a friend or a family member has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, the message from New Way RA is that RA does not define who you are," says Sara Nash, New Way RA panelist and blogger, diagnosed with RA at age 29. "I am proud to be part of the program because it sheds light on the challenges of living with rheumatoid arthritis while offering hope and motivation."
