Synopsis: Employment suggestions and opportunities for people with disabilities seeking flexible jobs and hours to work from home, including making money online. Remote work, or telework, is an arrangement in which employees do not commute to a central place of work. A person who telecommutes is known as a "telecommuter," "teleworker," and sometimes as a "home-sourced," or "work-at-home" employee. Working at home is a popular choice for many people with a disability. It can be much simpler to work something flexible at home than to deal with whatever limitations your disability may cause at an office or other place of work.
- Work From Home (WFH)
- Work from home (WFH), also known as telecommuting, telework, remote work, work from anywhere, mobile work, flexible workplace, virtual work, or distributed work, means an employee is working from their house, apartment, or place of residence, rather than working from an office. Employees who WFH often have a better work-life balance and often are more because they don't spend time commuting into the office and can get their work done quicker in a focused environment. On the employer's side, this setup is more cost-effective as they have lower office maintenance costs. Many organizations transitioned employees from the office to a work-from-home model during the Coronavirus global pandemic.
If you are disabled, it can be tough to find employment. Today's world of computers and high-speed Internet access means new choices and good paying options for people who want the flexibility and convenience of careers that don't require commuting to an office or working for someone else.
What is Telecommuting?
Remote work, or telework, is an arrangement where employees do not commute to a central place of work. A person who telecommutes is known as a "telecommuter," "teleworker," and sometimes as a "home-sourced" or "work-at-home" employee. Many telecommuters work from home, while others, sometimes called "nomad workers," use mobile telecommunications technology to work from coffee shops or other locations. A work from home or work at home arrangement involves working from home. It differs from the teleworking/telecommuting arrangement in that it does not require that the employee stay electronically connected to the work location during business hours.
Working at home is a popular choice for many people with a disability. It can be much simpler to work something flexible at home than to deal with whatever limitations your disability may cause at an office or other place of work.
General requirements for working from your house include;
- The need to be computer-literate, well versed in English (depending on your location)
- The ability to self-discipline to regular working hours without distractions.
Subjects covered in this area include information on starting your own home business, work-at-home opportunities, making money on the Internet, and how to seek home employment vacancies.
