Jalasa Sapkota Biography
My name is Jalasa Sapkota, and I am a visually impaired writer, researcher, and advocate for disability inclusion. With a background as a former Research Assistant at Diverse Patterns Limited and now as a Resource Person for the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI) Gender Equality and Women's Rights Task Group, I have dedicated my career to advancing the rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities.
As a General Member of Prayatna Nepal and a Disability Rights Activist, I am deeply committed to promoting inclusivity and accessibility in all aspects of life. Additionally, my expertise extends to language interpretation and transcription, facilitating communication across diverse communities.
I am the author of several books, including "Unlocking the Potential of Women with Disabilities in the Digital Era," "Whispers of Empowerment," and "Intersectional Insights: Disability, Gender, and the Path to Inclusion." These works reflect my aspiration towards advocating for disability inclusion.
My primary focus is on providing training and education on internet accessibility, gender dynamics, and disability-inclusive development. I have contributed articles and research analysis to various national and international platforms, including Disabled World, Rooted in Rights, MyRepublica, Online Khabar English, The Annapurna Express, and Body and Data. My work addresses a wide range of topics, from disability and digital inclusion to sexual and reproductive health rights for women with disabilities, interconnection of human rights and disability rights, and promoting inclusive education for persons with disabilities.
I firmly believe in creating a world where inclusion is not merely an exception but the norm-a testament to our collective dedication to equality, understanding, and the recognition of every individual's inherent worth. Through my work and advocacy, I strive to realize this vision and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
