The Minister for aging, Peter Primrose, said today that five directories covering Sydney and surrounds; the Central Coast/Hunter and the Northern, Western and Southern regions of NSW have been sent to the homes and residences of more than 980,000 people holding a Seniors Card.

"Each directory lists local offers available in their region and features discounts offered by more than 2,000 participating businesses at outlets, entertainment venues and transport operators," he said.

"They also include information on NSW Government concessions such as entry into national parks, museums and zoos."

Mr Primrose said that the NSW Seniors Card program had proven to be highly successful.

He said that businesses which offered good value and discounts on their goods and services had shown to be well supported by Seniors Card members.

"Seniors can access the directories online if they prefer not to receive the printed version and can access even more discounts and special offers if they sign up to EXTRA! the NSW Seniors Card monthly e-newsletter.

"EXTRA! also includes articles on travel, health, wellbeing, lifestyle, gardening, competitions, helpful tips and events."

People who are aged over 60 and work a maximum of 20 hours paid work a week are eligible for a Seniors Card. The program exists to encourage retired and semi-retired seniors in NSW to enjoy active and healthy lifestyles.
