A specially modified bus donated by young apprentices from Jaguar Land Rover's Dealer Apprenticeship scheme will be handed over to a Warwickshire-based project on Saturday (12 February) to help make a difference to the lives of disabled children and young people.

The group of Jaguar Land Rover dealer apprentices, who fund-raise for a range of causes through their Apprentices are Making a Difference charity, raised more than £33,000 last year to build the bus for children and young people at the John Waterhouse Project in Kenilworth, run by children's charity Action for Children.

In September last year, TV motoring journalist Quentin Willson presented the check to John Hands, 14, and Henry Slaughter, 13, who are supported by the John Waterhouse Project. John and Henry are among 36 disabled children who can now benefit from day-trips not just within the local community but to the seaside and other exciting attractions.

Christine Telford, Deputy Project Manager at Action for Children's John Waterhouse's Project, said: "The children and young people are absolutely delighted with the bus and we are incredibly grateful to the apprentices for their amazing support.

"The bus will make a huge difference to the lives of the disabled children, enabling them to have access to the wider community during their short breaks with Action for Children. It is great that young people at the start for their careers recognize the need to support others who are less fortunate than themselves."

Dr Adrian Birch, Trustee of Apprentices are Making a Difference, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be handing over the bus which will be a lifeline to many of the children and young people who are fortunate enough to be supported by the John Waterhouse Project. Our apprentices worked very hard to raise the incredible sum needed to support this worthwhile cause and throughout they were spurred on knowing the tangible difference it would make to the lives of other young people."
