Introduction

Disabled Travelers.com is a resource that is dedicated to providing accessible travel information to people with disabilities who desire to travel around the world.

Main Item

While the site is new, it provides information related to businesses from around the world that specialize in disability travel. The site presents a comprehensive listing of accessible travel specialists such as Tour Operators, Travel Agents, Accessible Cruise Specialists, Adventure Travel Companies, Travel Companions, Accessible Van Rentals and Equipment, Access Guides for wheelchair users and disabled travelers, and Home Exchanges.

Jeremy Rynders, the owner and webmaster of DisabledTravelers.com, is not a person with a disability. His sister, Amy, is - she has both Mental Retardation and Cerebral Palsy. Amy uses a wheelchair in her daily life and when she travels. The Rynders family began a business, Stagecoach Trails Guest Ranch; it is an accessible guest ranch that is designed for everyone to enjoy. The reason they began the ranch is because they tried to take their family to a guest ranch around twelve years ago, only to find that they could not locate one that was suitable for disabled travelers.

Recognizing the need for an accessible ranch, they built one. The Rynders decided to create a completely barrier-free ranch that Amy, fellow travelers with disabilities, as well as able-bodied travelers could all enjoy. Six years later, the family moved to Arizona to build their ranch, and along with the rest of the family, to include Jeremy's wife Jodi, they are a big part of the operations of the ranch. Stagecoach Trails Guest Ranch has been open for nearly five years now and has been the host to thousands of guests, both with and without disabilities, from all over the world.

Once the Stagecoach Trails Guest Ranch was established, Jeremy began development of the Disabled Travelers website. Jeremy and Amy have lived together for more than twenty-six years. During that timespan, Jeremy has not only been her brother, but her caretaker at a number of points. The knowledge Jeremy has gained has given him a certain amount of insight into the needs of travelers with disabilities; he is aware of the difficulties that people with disabilities may encounter when traveling, particularly when using a wheelchair. On his website he states, ' A great deal depends on where you go and how much planning is done ahead of time. It is my hope that this website will assist in trying to find the resources they are looking for. We have done our best to find every possible tour operator, travel agent, etc. that specializes in disability travel.'

Jeremy welcomes everyone to utilize the resources he presents on Disabled Travelers.com. He welcomes people to comment on the site, and email him or write to him at any time if they have questions. The Disabled Travelers site offers travel blogs, message boards, as well as an on-site gallery, among many other things. At the website you will also find:
