Introduction

Wyrmworks Publishing announces Limitless Champions, the largest, most diverse line of disabled fantasy miniatures ever made. This is the first time in history that experiences like Down syndrome and cerebral palsy have had representation as heroic fantasy characters. We think it's about time.

Main Item

Wyrmworks Publishing is excited to announce the launch of Limitless Champions, the largest and most diverse collection of disability-themed fantasy miniatures ever created.

Requested by fans of 2022's successful Limitless Heroics - Including Characters with Disabilities, Mental Illness, and Neurodivergence in Fifth Edition, which includes fifty illustrated fifth edition characters with a wide variety of traits, Limitless Champions includes some favorites from Limitless Heroics and adds new exclusive characters, represented through visible physical traits, assistive items, and service animals. The collection also includes condition marker bases accessible to blind gamers with recognizable shapes and braille labels. In addition to full-color tarot-size cards and a full-color electronic book of character descriptions in multiple accessible formats, backers can choose STL files for 3D printing or resin miniatures. The campaign also offers a padded wooden chest with a choice of cover art.

Primary author of Limitless Heroics, Dale Critchley is the owner, lead writer, and chief tea drinker at Wyrmworks Publishing. He's been playing tabletop role-playing games since 1982 and launched Wyrmworks Publishing as a hobby in 2000 to share his homebrew resources with the world. In 2021, after seeing the power that a TTRPG group can have to change the lives of the participants for the better, he rededicated Wyrmworks Publishing to focus on using TTRPGs to intentionally improve the lives of others and turned a hobby into a full time pursuit.

While working on the book, Dale noticed that, while miniatures of the characters are a big part of many D&D games, aside from a small collection of characters in wheelchairs and the standard tropes (pirates & blind martial artists), disability representation in character minis doesn't exist. So they're running a Kickstarter campaign to change that, creating heroic characters with a wide variety of disabilities (and guidelines for accessibility and avoiding harmful tropes) to help normalize disabled people in fantasy worlds, which will have repercussions on the real world.

Stretch goals include digital planner stickers and tokens for use in virtual tabletops and additional miniatures representing fantasy service animals. Besides developing the characters in consultation with people whose real-world experiences reflect the characters' traits, Naomi Hazlett, Bsc., MScOT, OT Reg. (Ont.), reprises her role in sensitivity consultation as she did for Limitless Heroics.
